This little girl is me…
She was born and raised in Portland, Oregon with her twin sister and older brother.
At an early age, she took an IQ test and was told she “wasn’t the smart one.”
She watched her twin sister and older brother go to the gifted and talented school while she stayed back.
Growing up, there were times her family had almost nothing. Where anything that wasn’t absolutely necessary was considered a luxury.
After college, she thought life was finally looking up when she landed a job at a start-up, and believed she would become a dot-com millionaire.
But when the dot-com bubble burst, everything she worked so tirelessly for vanished. She was left with zero dollars in her bank account.
She felt hopeless.
At what seemed like rock bottom, her grandmother supported her dream to start her own company.
She started that company at her kitchen table, grew it to $100 million in annual sales,, and sold her last company for $235 million.
She is grateful for the challenges life threw her way.
She learned to be resilient in the face of adversity, which helped her continue forward even on her darkest days.
This is my story. So why am I sharing it?
Because 70% of girls feel more confident about their future when they have female role models in their lives.
So, to all the females out there, I want to remind you that if I can do it…
SO CAN YOU!
